Advent Calendars Lit Pets

"different", that is the HIC! Finally

January 29, 2009, appointment with the Planning Commission of our beautiful town ...

" Your project is different is a bit difficult! "
Yes, in our beautiful Savoie countryside, we like large roofs with the famous "two sides with ridges" and we offer something else: less bulky roofs, vegetated, discreet ... Briefly, modern and efficient, what!
But "the good people do not like that we follow a different path!" (Georges Brassens).

" Well, in principle, it is not cons such projects ... Moreover, we will reserve a corner of the municipality for that, you'll see! "
we dreaming, an" Indian reserve "for parking passive houses in France in the XXI century!

You understood, we confront the famous pranks obsolete French PLU, which regulate carefully embellishments that have more of personal taste and blithely ignore the basics: building energy performance, controlling the consumption of materials and resources, etc..
We are working to convince ...
Vernacular architecture Rural is made of large farm buildings, scattered, which have traditionally been (in our region) volumes attic very important to store fodder, this is a dual purpose (this is written in clear in the local PLU) :
  • somewhere to forage from the farm (Mr. La Palisse would have said as much!)
  • benefit for them as insulation against the cold coming from the top (well, not our beasts Veterans, their architecture was therefore functional, like ours!)
So we patiently explain to our politicians:
  • that we will certainly not fodder store in our homes, not farmers
  • we have alternatives, very effective, to protect us from the cold came from above: a good layer of insulation in addition to the ecological vegetation, simply and economically
  • it is not really useful to add additional structures on the roof of our house: besides that would make them much more visible in the landscape (known of course as landscape integration: not nice contemporary architecture in the country ...) and it would not meet any need for functionality, it would be a shameful waste materials, energy (including ours), resources, etc.. ... uh, quite the opposite of current and pressing issues on the planet, does not it?
Between us, what fits best?
  • architecture artificial, which seeks to pastiche an old imaginary ... houses that look like farm buildings, under the pretext of rural ... who were home but never animals or fodder?
  • Or a functional architecture, which revisits the place of visual codes (shapes, colors, materials, etc..) Respects without pastiche ... and placing the head and environmental issues in the real center of his reflection?

In fact, in the first case:
  • It does what the volume added in attic? We do not have to store fodder, us!
  • Who pays the superstructure unnecessary? It is not in crisis these days?
  • What will the occupants of the farm located just upstream, which we will block the view of the beautiful landscape?
  • They are put where the solar panels? Due east or due west, it does not work!
Our common will she Petibonum-LES-ALPES, the last Gallic village that resists invasion the twenty-first century?

The next episode ...
